Big Breakfast 2016

There was a fantastic buzz in the Packington Village Hall on Saturday 5th March as supporters came out in force to support the 2016 Packington Big Breakfast and tucked into 287 fry-ups!  This resulted in a record breaking £1,374.16 being raised on the day

Four young waitresses, Gemma, Holly, Emily and Anya serving food as fast as it was served up from the kitchen. Local Brownies were kept busy serving orange juices and teas throughout the morning. Hospice Hope volunteer Di Best was placed in charge of the bacon (and is quoted as not wanting to see another rasher for some time!) with husband Jim donning his pinafore and marigolds to scrub a significant number of large pots and trays. In fact the washing up teams were trying to keep up with the never ending piles of dirty dishes (which were mostly coming back clean!).

All together there were 67 volunteers involved in making the day a great success and thanks go to them all. Chief organiser, Mike Coke, paid thanks to Taylors Butchers, Ashby, who supplied bacon and sausages and to Pete Swift of Daybreak Services who supplied all other provisions, plus Packington and Normanton Ladies group, who acquired over forty prizes for the raffle, which this year raised a record £343 included in the overall total.

Hospice Hope would like to say a huge thank you to the organising committee for staging the Big Breakfast and to the people of Packington and surrounding area for supporting such a special community event, which is now in its fifth year.
