Advent Collections

The Church of the Risen Lord Catholic Church, Castle Donington, each Advent Sunday has a special collection, which in the New Year is donated to a local charity.  Advent usually lasts for four Sundays and begins this year on 27 November.

Hospice Hope is one of the local charities who were asked to put together a reason as to why they should be selected by the Parish.  Hospice Hope explained about the opening of Hope House in early 2017 to provide pastoral care for people with life limiting illnesses.  A major requirement of Hope House is to have very comfortable chairs for the guests.

The document submitted by Hospice Hope to the Church also described the background to its formation, the closure of the Sue Ryder Hospice at Staunton Harold and what it has achieved so far, namely the opening and successful running of three Support Cafes in North West Leicestershire; Ashby, Coalville/Whitwick and Ibstock.

Hospice Hope are delighted to learn that they have been awarded the Advent collections and will be working closely with the Catholic Church fellowship to produce a display for people to see and to progress the purchase of the chairs.
