Ashby Lawn Tennis Club

On 28th October, Hospice Hope were invited to the Royal Hotel, Ashby to attend the Ashby Lawn Tennis Club’s presentation evening, to receive a cheque for the amazing amount of £1751.00.  The evening was especially for the juniors in the Club, with the room full of potential Wimbledon winners!

The money was raised through a Community event day at the Club during the summer, where the main focus was a 24-hour marathon match played by Alex Guzder and Tom Hall. This was then followed by various tennis teams raising funds by holding a jazz afternoon, rounders match, sponsored walk, raffle and a sponsored swim.

The cheque was presented by Gill Mathias and received by Trustees and Volunteers from Hospice Hope (see picture below) who were delighted to be invited to such a special evening.

Hospice Hope Chair, Stewart Shepherd, expressed the charity’s sincere thanks and explained that the money would be used to buy a ramp to facilitate easier access into the garden at Hope House, additional equipment for the therapy room and stools for the new chiropody service.

It was a good evening and a wonderful donation to the work of Hospice Hope.
