Charity Golf Day

Rotary Club of Ashby organises Charity Team Golf Competition

Friday 1st September was a lovely autumn day for all the golf enthusiasts who took part in the Rotary Club’s charity golf competition at Willesley Park Golf Club, followed by a dinner and auction.

The day started off with bacon butties and coffee for the ten 4-ball teams involved.

Pictured below is the Hospice Hope team comprising of; Peter Last (Trustee), Rob Stobbs (son of our Trustee Roy), John Hall (whose mother is a volunteer at Hope House) and a guest player Andy Woskett.

In the evening, there was a sell-out dinner for approximately 100 people followed by a lively auction of goodies.

Earlier in the day, a team of Hospice Hope volunteers were based in Lloyds Bank in Ashby de la Zouch selling raffle tickets for the draw that night, with the main prize being a chocolate hamper donated by Thorntons. All the funds raised by the volunteers are being generously ‘match funded’ by Lloyds.

Hospice Hope will be the main recipient of the funds raised through this event, along with other local charities supported by the Rotary Club of Ashby.

Peter Last spoke at the dinner and warmly thanked Alan Turland from the Rotary Club for all their support to Hospice Hope both practically and financially and specifically for arranging this golfing event.
