2018 Ashby Show

Raising the Profile at the 2018 Ashby Show

Record numbers attended this year’s Ashby Show on Sunday 15th July, which was blessed with hot sunny weather. Sun hats and ice creams were definitely the order of the day!

Hospice Hope had a stand on Avenue R, manned by volunteers during the day, who distributed leaflets and chatted to passers-by to raise awareness for our charity.

Our special ‘volunteer’ was our fantastic scarecrow, made by guests at Hope House and we ran a competition to guess his name.  One lucky person correctly guessed ‘Sam’ and has been presented with a £15 voucher for Woodlands Garden Centre.  Sam will soon take his place on Marston Way, Heather as part of the popular Heather Scarecrow Festival running from 29th July to 5th August.

Hospice Hope will be hosting a Craft Fair during the Scarecrow Festival on the 1st August, 10am – 4pm at the David Taylor Memorial Hall on Swepstone Road. Lots of lovely crafts to purchase, children’s craft table and light refreshments available.

We also ran a tombola table, and launched our 100 Square Challenge, the prize being a £20 voucher kindly donated by Goose of Ashby de la Zouch.

All in all, £201.00 was raised on the day, but the more significant was the number of people we were able to engage with and tell them about the services we offer to people with life limiting conditions and their carers in the North West Leicestershire area.
