Activities at Hope House

Hope House….more than tea, biscuits and a chat!

All of our guests at Hope House come to us for differing reasons….some to give carers a break, some to alleviate isolation, all to embrace the mutual support on offer from fellow guests and volunteers when dealing with a life limiting condition.

But Hope House is more than endless cups of tea and sitting in comfy chairs waiting for lunch (as delicious as it is, freshly prepared on site by our cook, Christine).

Our Manager, Carol understands the need to engage our guests in activities and be open to new ideas and experiences.  With this in mind, regular activities, talks and visitors are arranged alongside the usual favourites of bingo, scrabble, enjoying the garden and spotting the abundance of wildlife that visits.  Just recently, the Red Cross have visited Hope House to pass on useful tips to avoid slips, trips and falls around the house, handy for anyone.

So, at Hope House, there really is something for everyone!  Here’s what’s planned over the next few weeks:

Monday 10th and Thursday 27th September: a wonderful group trip on the Peter Le Marchant Trust barge from its home on the Loughborough Canal

Thursday 20th September: talk from Helen from NHS Patient Experience

Monday 8th and Thursday 25th October: Karen from Leicestershire Fire Services will be talking about home safety

Monday 5th and Thursday 15th November: Local charity VISTA will be coming to Hope House to talk about looking after your eyes and accessible IT

Monday 8th and Thursday 26th November: Jayne from Macmillan will be talking about their befriending service in North West Leicestershire

All the activities at Hope House (and our three weekly Support Cafés in Ashby, Ibstock and Coalville) are posted each week onto our website and Facebook page in a ‘what’s on’ article.  Or if you want to find out more about Hope House in general, just give Carol a ring on 01530 222 079.
