Canal Trips by Hope House Guests

Hope House guests, volunteers and staff have enjoyed a trip out on the Peter Le Marchant barge on either the 10 or 27 September.  Arriving at 10am they all enjoyed the peaceful journey from Loughborough to either Mountsorrel or Normanton. Going along the canal, under bridges and through locks ,a picnic was enjoyed on board before heading home again for 3pm.

Many guests took full advantage of sitting on deck in the sunshine watching the wildlife. Herons, swans, ducks and Canada Geese all came to look at us!  Here are a few of the comments made by our guests on the day:

“A wonderful day out” “I really enjoyed the day” “I’ve never been on a barge before”

“it was so peaceful and everyone has enjoyed it”

“I didn’t know this was here”

"I’ve loved looking at all the gardens”

“Watching the locks letting the water in was an experience, sitting on the front deck!”

Our thanks go to the Peter Le Marchant Trust, our volunteers and cook, Christine, for making the day so enjoyable and successful.
