Donation of Ride on Mower for Hope House

Hope House, which opened in April 2017, has proven to be a great success and is now open two days a week; Mondays and Thursdays.

One of the challenges that the charity has faced is the size of the garden, which was greatly enjoyed by our guests during the warmer months and even during the winter there is much to watch from the warmth of the indoors as the birds enjoy the feeding stations and other wildlife ‘pops’ in.  Much help has been given by Ashby Rotary Clubs, Coalville and Ashby Lions, Loughborough University and Ashfield Healthcare to maintain the gardens as well as possible.

The very large lawn has been regularly mowed using a rather old and poorly mower.  Consequently, a replacement was urgently needed. The Rotary Foundation, led locally by Bob Ferguson, had been looking for a project to support and the gardens at Hope House, Girffydam, met the criteria.

On 12th January, Bob Ferguson presented the first part of the project, a sit on mower, to Trustee Peter Last at Hope House. Following a short lesson from Mark of Masseys DIY, Swadlincote, Peter was able to drive the mower and found it perfect for what is needed.

The second part of the project, a greenhouse for use by guests, is due to start in the next few weeks.  More information to follow on this in February.
