Dreary February?

Dull and dreary February – not at Hope House!  Guests with life limiting conditions attend our Griffydam Day Care Centre to access our support and to alleviate isolation. Whilst they are with us for the day, they receive the care and attention of our wonderful volunteers, a home-cooked two course lunch and a complementary therapy session – all for free!  Plus, our Manager Carol, organises a wide range of activities and speakers to entertain and amuse everyone – so here’s what’s happening in February….

Monday 4th February: Nigel, one of Hospice Hope’s volunteers, is coming in to talk about his adventures in the high seas (he sails around the world!)

Thursday 7th February: a representative from Dementia Friends is visiting to give everyone an understanding of what it is, how it affects people and what we can do to help a person with dementia

Monday 11th February: time to get ‘arty’ with ‘Art for All’

Monday18th February: Aris, one of Hospice Hope’s volunteers is coming in to talk about her adventures in Sri Lanka

Thursday 21st February: there’s a whole lot of pampering going on with a visit from The Body Shop, providing mini ‘make overs’ for our guests

Monday 25th February:  Local charity Vista are coming in to show how IT can be accessible to all

Finally, on Thursday 28th February:  we welcome back Fran from Charnwood Brass, who’ll be bringing in a selection of instruments for guests to try out. A great time was had when Fran visited in January (see below)!
